So, everyone's talking about how tight money is. We're cutting back and sucking it up. Try jumping out of the norm and think about making extra money and avoid the crunch.

Obviously, part-time jobs are an option, but you do not have to be away from home an extra 10-15 hours a day to bring in extra money.

The internet provides thousands of options for people looking to make money at home. If you have experience in design, writing or translation, you literally have thousands of options to find real work. Also consider working as a virtual assistant or transcriptionist. You can make money online without any special skills. Some companies will pay you to take surveys, sometimes with money, sometimes with free stuff.

With online work, you should always be wary of scams. The best rule of thumb is never pay to work for someone. And always be careful about providing your personal information.

How about work in the real world? If you're a great cook (and you enjoy it) consider catering small events. If you have a natural talent for interior decorating, take on some small jobs, build a portfolio and see where it goes. Got a green thumb? Try lawn care – mowing, landscaping etc. Are you handy around the house? Handle some home repairs or improvements for friends who will help you get the word out.

If you love it, you'll get more than money, you'll get some self satisfaction. You may even discover a new job -boss of your own business!
